Dauntless Courage
A defining moment in history as Lt. (jg) “Dusty” Kleiss
successfully bombed the Imperial Japanese carrier Kaga during the
Battle of Midway. Of the 16 Scouting Six SBD Dauntless aircraft
that attacked, only nine returned to the U.S.S. Enterprise.
Kleiss’ aircraft returned with barely enough fuel to complete his
landing.
